We know you love 60 minute treatments, so just think how much more you’d love 90!
Massage is a therapeutic means of relaxing and bettering yourself. If you’ve received a massage of any duration, you’ve experienced the aftermath that leaves your body and mind feeling rejuvenated. You might know that there can be different types of massages like Swedish or Deep Tissue Massage, but you might be thinking: what difference does the length of a massage make? A lot!
Danijel, our therapist, says: “A 90 minute [session] allows for a more relaxing and effective massage. It gives the therapist enough time to do any detailed work, incorporating more techniques on areas in need than you’d be able to with a 60 minute massage, and still be able to get to the rest of the body without it feeling rushed.”
In general, while a 60 minute session provides some relaxation and targeted muscle work, it’s sometimes a less thorough massage if you are looking to address the whole body including the hands, feet, and scalp.
The techniques that the massage therapist can integrate in a longer session ranges from stretching and hot/cold therapy to reflexology, neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, or biomechanical assessment. If you have a tight neck and shoulders, sciatic pain in your glutes or legs, or cramping in your calves, there’s not enough time in 60 minutes to work on those tough areas, get them to release, and then get to everything else.
Not only does a longer time provide a better experience for your body, but there are significant improvements for your mind as well! Do you know how long it takes many people to just relax and calm down once they are on the massage table? Maybe you’re a pro at relaxing, but most people aren’t. Only after about 30 minutes through the massage, they finally start to relax, their muscles are just beginning to really loosen up, and then, BAM. Their 60 minutes have flown by and the massage session is over.
With a 90 minute session, you won’t need to feel like you have to hurry up and relax (which can be difficult and certainly counterproductive). When you leave, you may find the world isn’t moving quite so fast as before, and your improved frame of mind can help you handle whatever comes next.
Oh, and—by the way—be prepared to book future sessions. There are many, many benefits to visit a therapist repeatedly who, after the first session, has come to know your body and your preferences and has created an extended plan of care. For those seeking to take advantage of this more extensive care, our membership is a great way to get more treatments at a lower price.
Massage is NOT a splurge whether it’s a 60 or 90 minute massage! Massage is preventative health care. Massage keeps your body in good working order by promoting relaxation, a mind/body connection, and flexibility to both avoid injury and heal easier from injury. Most people don’t get to experience the benefit of having someone take care of them for 5 minutes, much less 90. You owe it to yourself and your health to lay down on the table and be taken care of!
